YOU DON'T NEED A LOT OF TALENT! Just willing to give time to someone receiving hospice care. We appreciate a gifted musician, however, if you like to just play music or sing along you will still make a difference!

Music and singing bring comfort and companionship to all people but is so appreciated by those who are confined to their homes or a facility. They need you as a volunteer to provide enjoyment and a quality of life. Only an hour or two a week, or even a month, makes a difference in people’s lives.

We will train and support you every step of the way! Volunteers meet all sorts of people in hospice, and each has a story and different circumstances. You will learn so much on how to enjoy the time you spend with them!

Volunteer with us! So many patients long for someone to simply talk to them, read to them, play games, watch television, engage in arts/crafts, or just sit with them.  Volunteer in the way YOU choose in the times YOU have available! Our patients will not be the only ones that benefit from your decision to volunteer your time, you will as well! Volunteering with hospice can help you learn new skills, build relationships, and advance your academic/professional career.  What are you waiting for?!

Office and clerical volunteers wanted at our Hattiesburg office.  Office volunteers assist with various duties around the offices including but not limited to the following: putting together admission packets, answering phones, completing "tuck in" calls, putting up stock, assisting with events, participating in meetings, and many other daily/weekly duties.  The office setting is professional yet laid back which offers an ability to learn as you go.  Office volunteers are needed for the summer and throughout the year.  Come join us!

We are in need of some active military or veterans to provide visits to some of our hospice patients that are military veterans.  Some of these visits might include simply sitting with them and carrying on a conversation.  Multiple times per year we hold pinning and commemoration ceremonies for the veterans in our care.  During these ceremonies, we like to have another veteran or active military in uniform to assist with the ceremony.  It is so much more meaningful to our veterans to have others that also served take up time with them.

Hospice Compassus is currently seeking active military or military veterans to provide comforting visits to veterans in our care, as well as to participate in pinning ceremonies.  Pinning ceremonies are a time to thank our veterans for their services, reflect on any special moments during their time of service, and provide them with a few mementos that express our gratitude for their sacrifices.  

Visits may range from 30 minutes to a few hours, depending on your availability and the need of the patient.  Pinning ceremonies last 30 minutes to an hour.  

Hospice Compassus currently services patients in the following counties: Forrest, Lamar, Marion, Pearl River, Stone, Covington, Jones, Wayne, George, Perry, and Greene.
